  • Nicole stole Rene's Oscar! - Princess (24/03/2003 8:22:35 PM)
    The bitch... :)

I am most upset at this, while the hours was a lovely heart warming film, I think that Chicago was a far better package, and Rene was the better actress this year, because she had more to work with. Mind you, it is Nicole's turn, I just can't understand why she didn't get best actress for "Days of Thunder" - she did get Tom Cruise mind you, (and didn't that turn out to be a lemon).

I shall avoid the puns of cruise control in race cars, and her marrage hitting the skids, after all, such cheap shots rarely have the build quality that you have all come to expect of me - I shall just say, Congrats Nicole.

Oh! Denzel Washington, if you're reading this, bad pun! It took me a few hours to work out that you were talking about the prostechic nose that Nicole had in the film, and not the vote by which she won.

    Oscars: Winners and Nominees
You know I was going to say that Rene didn't deserve an oscar, but the more I think about it, the more I think that she did a really good job. I didn't see "The Hours", Dragonfly didn't recommend it, and hasn't / won't post a review!

I do not think that Catherine Zeta-Jones deserved a best supporting actress award ... unless there was really no competition.

Bah! It's all rigged and meaningless. Especially if Russel Crowe wins an acting award for his role in Gladiator over Geoffrey Rush in Quills.

I hope we all took note of DOCUMENTARY FEATURE: BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE which you all must watch as soon as it is out on video/DVD.
Re: Nicole stole Rene's Oscar! (No, Nicole WON the Oscar!) - Dragonfly (25/03/2003 7:26:36 AM)
Nicole's performance in 'The Hours' was pretty impressive. The movie itself wasn't the most exciting movie I've seen. But I do think Nicole deserved it. Renee was great in Chicago. Julianne Moore played almost exact characters in 2 movies (so similar!!). I haven't seen Diane Lane's performance, but as if it would be better than Nic's! Nicole gets my vote for sure!! You go girl!!!!!
